The most important thing: drainage
On a patio, water must flow away from the building – never towards it. With the torrential autumn downpours (DANA) we know in the province of Málaga, this is decisive. The critical points:
- At least 2 % fall away from the building.
- Water-diverting detail along the building plinth (drainage channel, kerb).
- Rainwater taken off the patio – soakaway or connection to the drainage network.
- No standing water in the bedding layer – key to durability and, in the inland areas with occasional light frosts, to avoiding damage.
