60×40 cm paving slabs already count as large-format units among outdoor pavings. Large slabs mean fewer joints, and the surface looks calmer and more modern — which is why they are so popular in minimalist, clean-lined gardens, a style very much at home along the Costa del Sol. It is important to know, however, that these slabs are primarily intended for pedestrian traffic.

The question of load capacity
60×40 slabs are generally manufactured for pedestrian loads (standard UNE-EN 1339). Pavers meant for car traffic are made 6 cm thick and in smaller formats — a large slab distributes the point load acting on it less well, so it is generally not recommended for vehicle areas in the traditional system laid on a gravel bedding.

- Garden paths and walkways: elegant lines made of large slabs.
- Pool surrounds: a calm, modern surface (always with a slip-resistant finish).
Laying patterns
Large slabs can be laid with continuous joints, in offset bond, or as stepping stones with wide, grassed joints. Combined with decorative gravel or lawn, they make particularly striking, modern garden surfaces.
The 60×40 slab is, in short, an excellent choice for clean-lined pedestrian surfaces — just keep its load capacity in mind and make sure of a perfectly flat bedding layer.
