The phrase "paver clearance sale" can mean several things. On one hand, it can mean selling off stock – sometimes pavers that have sat in the yard for a while – at a discount to free up warehouse space. On the other, it can refer to seasonal offers or volume discounts. Either way, a clearance can be a genuine chance to save – if you buy smart.
Why do merchants clear out pavers?
- Stock refresh: older products make room for new ranges.
- Discontinued lines: a colour or model goes out of production.
- End of season: after the peak building months, prices can drop.
- Surplus lots: unopened pallets left over from a larger project.
What to check before buying
Beyond the attractive price, a few things are worth verifying:
- Quantity: is there enough for the whole surface? A discontinued product will be hard to match later.
- Same production batch: different batches can show slight colour variations.
- Condition: long-stored blocks may show efflorescence or dirt (often washable, but inspect first).
- Thickness and load rating: is it right for the intended use (pedestrian or vehicle), and does it comply with UNE-EN 1338?
Count the total cost
The price of the blocks is only one line item. Delivery, the base materials (crushed-stone sub-base, bedding layer), the kerbs and the labour together make up the final total. A cheaper block needs exactly the same quality base underneath it – at a clearance sale you can save on the stone, but never skimp on the base.
